The Deputy Chief Justice, Hon. Justice Richard Buteera and his wife Mrs Jane Buteera on Wednesday April 26, 2023 hosted the Court of Appeal Justices for a Luncheon at his Residence in Muyenga.

The DCJ said the day was special because his colleagues had honored his invitation to have the luncheon at his home, where they could meet his family. The DCJ reiterated his commitment to ensure that quarterly luncheons continue to take place in a bid to enhance collegiality.

Hon. Justice Geoffrey Kiryabwire, the Court of Appeal Administrator, appreciated the DCJ for the invitation and noted that "when a boss invites those he leads into their private space it connotes friendship which they cannot take for granted." He appreciated the DCJ for being a good leader who makes and keeps his promises. He noted that the Justices and staff of the court were committed to supporting the DCJ to achieve his goals for the Court.

The Deputy Registrar of the Court, HW Lillian Bucyana, thanked the DCJ for permitting the staff of the Court to be part of the quarterly luncheons, and for inviting them to his home. She noted that the quarterly luncheon was the third since inception of the idea and that it was already making a difference in the Court by enhancing team spirit.

The luncheon was held under the theme: "collegiality binds me."

The event was preceded by the Justices' meeting in which they discussed the performance of the court and laid strategies for effective case load management.
